To Clean and Care:

  • Spray affresh® Stainless Cleaner on aMicro-Fiber Cloth.
  • Wipe the stainless steel in the direction of the grain to avoid damage.

affresh®cleaners are available at many retailers.

To Restore Luster:

  • Use affresh®Stainless Steel Cleaning Wipes; follow the recommendations and directions on the label.
  • Wipe off any excess and use special care to avoid contact with any plastic parts, trim pieces, or rubber door gaskets. If the polish does contact any of these plastic parts, clean them with a nonabrasive sponge and mild detergent in warm water.
  • Thoroughly dry the area with a soft cloth.

If affresh® Stainless Steel cleaner is not available:

  • Wash surfaces with warm, soapy water using liquid detergent and a nonabrasive sponge. Always rub evenly in the direction of the grain.
  • Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Use a clean, dry towel to polish the surface in the direction of the grain until it shines.
  • Water that is not completely dried off can cause discoloration - Water may contain iron that will initiate this discoloration


Removable Parts Cleaning


Burner or Drip Bowls - Electric Ranges

Cleaning Burner Drip Bowls:

IMPORTANT: Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off, and the cooktop is cool. Always follow label instructions on cleaning products.

Food spills containing acids, such as vinegar and tomato, should be cleaned as soon as the entire appliance is cool. These spills may affect the finish.

NOTE: Coil elements are self-cleaning; do not immerse them in water.

To remove coil elements:

  1. Push in the edge of the coil element toward the receptacle, and then lift it enough to clear the burner bowl.
  2. Pull the coil element straight away from the receptacle.
  3. Lift out the burner bowl.

To replace the coil element:

  1. Line up openings in the burner bowl with the coil element receptacle.
  2. Holding the coil element as level as possible, slowly push the coil element terminal into the receptacle.
  3. When the terminal is pushed into the receptacle as far as it will go, push down the edge of the coil element opposite the receptacle.

Chrome Drip Bowls:

  • Liquid detergent or all-purpose cleaner:Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

  1. Solution of ½ cup (125 mL) ammonia to 1 gal. (3.75 L) water.
  2. Soak for 20 minutes, then scrub with stainless steel-wool pad and if needed usea mildly abrasive cleanser and clean with a wet scouring pad

  • For racks that have discolored and are harder to slide, a light coating of vegetable oil applied to the rack guides will help them slide.

  • Pull knobs straight away from the control panel to remove.

Cleaning Mineral deposits on oven bottom - Electric Ranges

Mineral deposits on the bottom of the oven cavity

Tap, spring and even filtered water has dissolved minerals in it that will remain in your oven after the water evaporates.These minerals may leave a ring that is likely deposits of Calcium, Phosphates, Nitrates, Sodium, Potassium, and Chloride. A reddish hint in this area is typically rust in the water supply.

Most of the time this ring can be removed by wetting the surface and using a non-scratch sponge.If the problem persists; a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water will remove it.

IMPORTANT:Make sure you completely wash the surface with pure or distilled water after you clean the vinegar/water mixture up to prevent damage to the oven coating.


Spills or Stains Not Removed after AquaLift Cycle

Possible Solutions

Sides, back, or door not completely clean?

Run the cleaning cycle first as instructed. Then use a nonabrasive scrub sponge or eraser style cleaning pad (without cleaners). These can be effective for cleaning the oven cavity walls, oven door and oven bottom for difficult soils.

For best results, moisten the pads and sponges before use and wipe up the area immediately after the cycle is completed.affresh™ cooktop cleaner may also be used to clean the oven bottom, walls, and door when the oven has finished the cycle and returned to room temperature.

Oven bottom not completely clean?

The most effective method to remove difficult soils that are not clean after the cycle is to run another cycle.This second cycle may be necessary if the soil is excessively thick or has a large surface area.The first cycle will make the soil thinner and the surface area smaller.The second cycle will be more effective to lift the soil since it is now a smaller soil.

Running the cycle regularly will reduce the need to run the cycle more than onceat atime.

Use of a non-scratch sponge or plastic scraper is suggested as well, which is included in the AquaLift Cleaning Kit.

Using AquaLift Oven Cleaning Cycle - Electric Ranges

AquaLift Oven Cleaning Performance

AquaLift® Self-Cleaning:

NOTE: Allow the oven to cool to room temperature before using the Clean cycle. If your oven cavity is above 200°F (93°C), “Oven Cooling” will appear in the display, and the Clean cycle will not be activated until the oven cavity cools down.

To Clean:

  1. Remove all racks and accessories from the oven cavity and wipe excess soil. Use a plastic scraper to remove easily removed soils.
  2. Pour 2 cups (16 oz [500 mL]) of distilled or filtered water onto the bottom of the empty oven and close the oven door.

IMPORTANT: Do not use chemicals or other additives with the water. Do not open the oven door during the Clean cycle. The water on the oven bottom is hot.


  1. Press AQUALIFT SELF CLEAN and then START on the oven control panel.
  2. Allow 40 minutes for cleaning and cool down. A beep will sound when the Clean cycle is complete.
  3. Press CANCEL at the end of the cycle. Cancel may be pressed at any time to stop the Clean cycle.
  4. Remove the residual water and loosened soils with a sponge or cloth immediately after the Clean cycle is complete. Much of the initial 1¾ cups (14 oz [414 mL]) of water will remain in the oven after the cycle is completed. If additional soils remain, leave a small amount of water in the oven bottom to assist with the cleaning.
  5. If any soils remain, remove them with a non-scratch scrubbing sponge or plastic scraper. Additional Clean cycles may be run to help remove the stubborn soils.

IMPORTANT: Do not use oven cleaners. The use of chemicals, including commercial oven cleaners or metal scouring pads, may cause permanent damage to the porcelain surface of the oven interior.

Tips and Suggestions

  • The range should be level to ensure that the entire surface of the bottom of the oven cavity is covered by water at the beginning of the Clean cycle.
  • For best results, use distilled or filtered water. Tap water may leave mineral deposits on the oven bottom.
  • Before removing the residual water and loosened soils at the end of the Clean cycle, insert a cloth or paper towel between the lower edge of the oven door and the front frame to keep water from spilling onto the front of the range and the floor.
  • Soil baked on through several cooking cycles will be more challenging to remove with the Clean cycle.
  • Nonabrasive scrub sponges or eraser style cleaning pads (without cleaners) can be useful for cleaning the oven cavity walls, oven door and oven bottom for difficult soils. For best results, moisten the pads and sponges before use.

Run an additional Clean cycle for stubborn soils.

affresh® Cooktop Cleaner may be used to clean the oven bottom, walls, and door when the oven has finished the cycle and returned to room temperature. If the affresh® Cooktop Cleaner is used, it is recommended to wipe out the cavity with distilled water as well.


Cooktop Cleaning

Cleaning Method:

IMPORTANT:

  • To avoid damage to the cooktop, do not use steel wool, abrasive powder cleansers, chlorine bleach, rust remover or ammonia.

Burned on soil can be removed from the ceramic glass cooktop surface by following 3 steps:

Step 1:Remove food/residue with a scraper designed for ceramic glass cooktops.

  • For best results, use scraper while thecooktop is still warm, but not hot to the touch.It is recommended to wear an oven mitt while scraping the warm cooktop.
  • Hold the scraper at approximately a 45° angle against the glass surface and scrape the residue.It will be necessary to apply pressure in order to remove the residue.
  • Allow the cooktop to cool down before proceeding to Step 2.

Step 2:Apply a few dime-sized drops of affresh® cooktop cleaner / ceramic glass cooktop cleaner to the affected areas.

  • Rub the affresh® cleaner onto the cooktop surface with the blue cooktop scrubbing pad.Reasonable pressure is needed to remove stubborn stains.
  • Allow the cleaner to dry to a white haze before proceeding to Step 3.

Step 3:Polish with a clean, dry cloth or a clean, dry paper towel.

  • Repeat the Steps 1 – 3 as necessary for stubborn or burned on stains.

  • Self-clean the oven before it becomes heavily soiled. Heavy soil results in longer cleaning and more smoke.
  • Keep the kitchen well-ventilated during the Self-Cleaning cycle to help get rid of heat, odors, and smoke.
  • Do not block the oven vent(s) during the Self-Cleaning cycle. Air must be able to move freely.

Do not clean, rub, damage or move the oven door gasket. The door gasket is essential for a good seal.


Aluminum Foil on the oven bottom

IMPORTANT:To avoid permanent damage to the oven bottomfinish, do not line the oven bottom with any type of foil or liner.

Covering the oven bottom can trap spills and debris resulting inodors.

For best cooking results, do not cover the entire oven rack with foilbecause air must be able to move freely and the foil can trap debris causing odors.

Using Continuous Clean - Electric Ranges

Continuouscleaning oven

The finish of the continuous cleaning oven contains a special catalyst and is identified by its dark gray color, white stipple and rough, porous texture.The rough texture absorbs spatters and allows them to spread, thus exposing a larger area to the hot oven air.The catalyst, when exposed to heat, speeds the oxidation of soil.

Cleaning action automatically begins whenever the oven is turned on for baking or roasting.The oven MUST be on for cleaningto take place - no cleaningwill occur when the oven is off.The special catalyst finish must be exposed to hot oven air before soil will begin to gradually reduce in size.

Factors affecting length of cleaning time

The higher the oven temperature, the faster the cleaning action.The length of the cleaning time will depend on these factors:type of soil, amount or size of soil, oven temperature and length of time oven is in use.Soil deposited at the end of a cycle may still be visible.This will usually fade with continued oven use until the soil gradually disappears or can be wiped up manually.The oven will appear presentably clean, even though some spatters may be present.

Manually cleaning heavy spillovers

The special finish will clean most spatters during normal oven use unless there is a heavy buildup of soil.Heavy spillovers such as pie or casserole boilovers will not clean effectivelywithout some manual help.The crusty or varnish like stains that form from these spillovers clog the pores and prevent the special finish from being exposed to the hot oven air.This greatly reduces the cleaning effectiveness of the finish.

These crusty or varnish like stains must either be removed or broken up before cleaning can effectively take place.

To manually clean heavy spillovers

Brush off heavy soil with a nylon brush or plastic pad.Do not use paper towels, cloths or sponges for the oven walls are porous and particles of these materials will rub off on the walls.Rinse the area with clear water only.

Cleaning tips

Brittle crusts or stains can be loosened by gently tapping stain with a wooden or plastic utensil.Brush away any loose soil that flakes off.Varnish type stains usually need to be softened with a small amount of water or damp cloth.Remaining soil will gradually reduce with continued oven use at normal baking temperatures.

Do not use any type of oven cleaner, powdered cleansers, soap, or paste on any continuous cleaning surface.Also do not use any abrasive materials, steel wool, sharp instruments or scrapers for they will damage the finish.


  • Make sure the oven is cool.

Place a piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil or shallow pan, slightly larger than the cooking container, on the lower rack to catch spill-overs.

Cleaning Removable Grease Filter:

Cleaning Method:

  • Turn off the downdraft ventilation system before removing the filter.
  • Remove burner grates, then vent grate and lift the filter out of the vent chamber.
  • Clean the filter in the sink with warm water and detergent, or the dishwasher.
  • Replace the filter.
  • The filter should always be placed at an angle as you face the front of the cooktop. The bottom of the filter should rest against the side of the vent chamber at the bottom.
  • If the filter is flat against the fan wall, ventilation effectiveness will be reduced.

Cleaning Ventilation Chamber:

IMPORTANT: Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off, and the cooktop is cool. Always follow label instructions on cleaning products.

The ventilation chamber, which houses the filter, should be cleaned in the event of spills or when it becomes coated with a film of grease.


Cleaning Method:

  • Turn off the downdraft ventilation system before cleaning the Ventilation Chamber.
  • Use mild household detergent, or nonabrasive cleaner and paper towel, damp cloth or sponge:
