Gather the Necessary Tools and Materials

• New engine oil
• New drain plug washer (if necessary)

Prepare the Vehicle

Make sure your Subaru Forester is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool. Engage the parking brake to secure the vehicle in place. Open the hood to access the engine compartment.

Drain the Old Oil

Position the oil drain pan underneath the oil drain plug, which is typically located at the bottom of the engine. Using a socket wrench, unscrew the drain plug and allow the old oil to drain completely. Once the oil has drained, replace the drain plug and tighten it securely. Be careful not to overtighten it to avoid damaging the threads.

Replace the Oil Filter

Check the Oil Level
