  6. Spring: The spring provides the necessary force to regulate the opening and closing of the needle and seat.

Working Principle:

The thermal expansion valve works on the principle of temperature sensing and pressure difference. The sensing bulb, which is attached to the evaporator outlet, measures the refrigerant's temperature. As the temperature changes, the refrigerant expands or contracts, causing pressure fluctuations within the sensing bulb.

The capillary tube, connecting the sensing bulb to the diaphragm, transfers these pressure signals. As the pressure in the sensing bulb varies, it enables the proper movement of the diaphragm, needle, and seat, consequently modifying the refrigerant flowrate.

When the refrigerant temperature at the evaporator outlet increases, the pressure in the sensing bulb also rises. This forces the diaphragm downwards, which lifts the needle, allowing more refrigerant flow into the evaporator. As the temperature decreases, the pressure in the bulb decreases, causing the diaphragm to move upwards, reducing the refrigerant flow.
