Jeep Renegade Oil Change DIY

Performing regular oil changes is essential for maintaining the performance and longevity of your Jeep Renegade. While you can always take your vehicle to a service center, changing the oil yourself can save you money and provide a sense of satisfaction. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to change the oil in your Jeep Renegade:

What You'll Need:

  • Car Jack and Jack Stands
  • Oil Filter Wrench
  • Socket Set
  • Oil Drain Pan
  • New Oil Filter
  • New Oil (check your vehicle's manual for the recommended type and quantity)
  • Funnel
  • Rubber Gloves

Step 1: Preparation

Make sure your vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine has cooled down. It's also recommended to put on rubber gloves to protect your hands.

Step 2: Lifting the Vehicle

Using a car jack, lift your Jeep Renegade from the appropriate lifting points. Then, secure the vehicle on jack stands for added safety.

Step 3: Draining the Oil

Locate the oil drain plug under the engine. Place the oil drain pan beneath it to catch the old oil. Using a socket set, carefully remove the drain plug and let the old oil drain completely.

Step 4: Removing the Oil Filter

Using an oil filter wrench, unscrew the oil filter located near the drain plug. Allow any residual oil to drain into the oil drain pan.

Step 5: Installing New Oil Filter

Apply a thin film of new oil to the rubber gasket on the new oil filter. Screw the new oil filter onto the engine by hand until it's snug, and then give it another half turn using the oil filter wrench.

Step 6: Adding New Oil

Locate the oil filler cap on top of the engine and remove it. Using a funnel, pour in the recommended amount of new oil into the engine. Replace the oil filler cap when finished.

Step 7: Checking the Oil Level

Start the engine and let it run for a couple of minutes. Turn off the engine and wait for a few minutes to allow the oil to settle. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it. Then, take it out again and check the oil level. If necessary, add more oil to bring it to the recommended level.

Step 8: Clean-up

Dispose of the used oil properly by taking it to a recycling center. Clean up any spills and ensure all components are tightly secured.

By following these steps, you can easily change the oil in your Jeep Renegade, saving you time and money. Remember to consult your vehicle's manual for specific instructions and intervals recommended by the manufacturer to maintain the optimal performance of your Jeep Renegade.
